The aim of the CAREBOT project – Intelligent Robotic Units for Outpatient Care Activities – is to develop an assistant to accompany patients during their access to the care service, in outpatient activity scenarios, and an assistant for home monitoring, guaranteeing personalised care adapted to the user and optimising the work of the health professional.
In view of the great healthcare challenge arising from the demographic change underway towards an increasingly older population with a longer life expectancy, which generates greater healthcare demands, it is a priority for the health services to find formulas for quality, equitable and sustainable care. Of particular relevance is the elderly population, with reduced mobility and a limited degree of personal autonomy, which require special and individualised attention from the organisation, both in access and during the care act and follow-up outside the walls of the health centre.
CAREBOT arises as a response to the present care needs, with the development of assistants who offer continuous assistance, accompanying not only in the physical care, but also in the psychological and social care.
