Yesterday in Santiago de Compostela, the 61 researchers who will be developing their doctoral theses in Galician companies and technology centres were presented, as part of the Xunta de Galicia’s Industrial Doctorates programme.
The Regional Minister for Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training, Román Rodríguez, highlighted that the programme is a strategic tool for promoting knowledge transfer, driving innovation and generating quality employment. In this edition, 60% of the new participants are women, and the areas with the highest representation are science, engineering, architecture and health.
In this context, our colleague Lizbet Gutiérrez presented the SIGMA project, which began last December, as one of the initiatives selected in the 2024 call for proposals for the Industrial Doctorates programme. SIGMA aims to strengthen collaboration between the scientific community and industry, with a specific focus on improving mussel aquaculture, one of Galicia’s most emblematic productive sectors.
