The SIGMA project makes the front page of Faro de Vigo for its commitment to mussel sustainability

On Saturday, 26 July, the newspaper Faro de Vigo published a prominent article on the industrial doctorate being developed by our colleague Lizbet Gutiérrez as part of the SIGMA project, which began in December 2024.

This collaborative research between Insati and the University of Vigo, carried out at the CIM-ECIMAT facilities, aims to identify the main predators of mussels in Galicia, both through visual observation in the laboratory and through the analysis of stomach contents. Based on this data, a control system will be designed based on the emission of controlled, environmentally friendly stimuli to mitigate the impact of predation.

This type of collaborative initiative represents a significant advance in the application of technology in this aquaculture sector, which is key to Galicia’s economy and sustainability.
